Want to treat your guests or family with a spicy and thick
Rajma Curry
served with piping hot steamed rice, but what if you forgot to soak the
Rajma
overnight? Well, here’s a pro hack to cook Rajma that too without soaking overnight by following some simple steps given below.
Boil the Rajma
To begin with this easy hack, rinse the rajma beans under cold water to clean them.
Next, take a large pot, add the washed rajma beans and cover them with water.
Soak and boil
The water level should be about 2-3 inches above the beans. Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Let the rajma beans boil rapidly for about 10 minutes. This helps to break down some of the complex sugars that can cause digestive discomfort. After boiling, reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
Simmer the Rajma
Continue simmering the Rajma beans for about 1 to 1.5 hours. The exact cooking time can vary based on the size and age of the beans. Check them occasionally to see if they are tender. You might need to cook them longer if they're not yet soft enough.
Check the texture
To check if the beans are done, take a few beans and press them between your fingers. They should mash easily. If they are still firm, continue cooking and check again after a while.
Boil and season
Once the Rajma beans are tender, drain the water and use the boiled Rajma as needed in your recipe. You can also season them with salt, spices, and other herbs and cook as per your preference.
