Early Age
TK Kirkland was born on 3 April 1961 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He grew up in the Compton neighborhood of Los Angeles and spent his adolescent years there. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University, where he also studied special communications. While there, he also competed in the 1984 Olympic trials (track).
Later, he joined California State University-Northridge for a master’s degree. Although he had planned to study pathology, he opted for management studies and matriculated with business administration and speech communications.

TK Kirkland has performed alongside many celebrities, including Keyshia Cole, Eminem, Jay Z, Kid Rock, Van Diesel, Lil Wayne, and Eazy-E, in his long comedy career.
Kirkland began his career on the road opening for the American hip-hop group N.W.A. in the 1980s. Ever since, his followers have dubbed him as the “Gangsta of Comedy.”

Kirkland began his on-screen career with the crime dramaNew Jersey Drivein 1995. In the late 1990s, he has also appeared in movies likeStraysas Rodney (1997) andRising to the Topas T.K. (1999).
In 2000, he appeared inBaller Blockin’as Lieutenant Gaspard. Later, he would be featured in the movies such asChampagne Gang(2006) andAre There Any Questions?(2008). In 2012, he played Joey in the filmBirds of a Feather,and he also starred in the 2013 filmGood Brutha Bad Bruthaas Silk Tie Joe.

It also brought Kirkland opportunities to work with well0known performers like Anthony Michael Hall, Sandra Bullock, and John Leguizamo.
