Lewis Hamilton's 11 Million Pagani Zonda Totalled By New Owner

In a recent incident on the A55 highway in Conwy, North Wales, the iconic Pagani Zonda 760, adorned with Lewis Hamilton's insignia, suffered extensive damage following a crash within the Penmaenbach Tunnel. The incident garnered attention as images of the supercar in a considerably deteriorated state while being transported on a flatbed truck circulated online.
The driver of the Pagani Zonda emerged from the accident unharmed, as confirmed by photographer Ethan Gale, who shared photographs of the aftermath on his Instagram profile. The images depicted the vehicle's various body panels, including the front and rear clamshell, headlights, doors, and rear bumper, all bearing the brunt of the impact. Notably, the suspension appeared to be seriously damaged, and the front windshield was shattered.
Although the precise circ*mstances leading to the crash are yet to be confirmed, rumors have suggested that the driver may have lost control of the supercar during acceleration, resulting in contact with the tunnel wall.
The Pagani Zonda 760 LH, acquired by Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton in 2014, was known for its unique purple exterior shade and extensive use of carbon fiber components. Sporting a potent 7.3-liter V12 engine producing 750 horsepower and paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this specific Zonda model was a departure from the norm. Hamilton parted with the vehicle in 2021, selling it to an undisclosed UK buyer. The transaction reportedly commanded an impressive price tag of £8.5 million ($10.8 million), a significant premium over its initial valuation of £1.6 million ($2 million).
Interestingly, Hamilton had previously voiced his candid opinion about the Zonda 760 LH, stating that it was "terrible to drive" while acknowledging its distinctive sound. In 2015, the same vehicle was involved in a minor collision in Monaco, according to Hamilton, involving a "very light contact with a stationary vehicle."
The current crash has raised questions about the potential restoration of the supercar. Pagani offers a comprehensive restoration program that can transform severely damaged Zonda vehicles into meticulously restored and personalized examples. The fate of the crashed Zonda 760 LH lies in the hands of its current owner, who faces the decision of restoring the vehicle to its original LH specifications or opting for a new direction entirely.
