Honored for quality stroke care

ECU Health Medical Center's neurological surgery department exceeds the national benchmark for the American Heart Association's stroke quality measures. ECU Health Medical Center serves as the regional leader for a stroke system of care, partnering with regional hospitals within the ECU Health system to optimize care. The hospital—which earned Comprehensive Stroke Center designation from The Joint Commission in July 2018—is home to the region’s only Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, with 24 beds dedicated to neurosurgical and neuromedicine patients. It isthe only hospitalin our service area providing 24/7 endovascular care. This designation underscores our dedication to caring for people suffering from stroke and supporting their care needs before, during and after a stroke may occur.

Pregnancy & Childbirth

It’s important to start prenatal care early – ideally before you even get pregnant – because your health directly affects the health of your baby. Your body will go through many changes during pregnancy. Routine medical visits and testing will help guide you through the process.

Visiting

Like all ECU Health hospitals and facilities, we’re patient- and family-centered—which means we recognize what an important role loved ones play in the healing process. Please help us keep visits safe and comfortable for everyone by following these guidelines:

  • Wash your hands each time you enter and leave a patient’s room
  • Stay home if you’re not feeling well
  • Make sure children under 12 are supervised by an adult other than the patient
  • Don’t bring weapons or use tobacco on our campus
  • Always wear a shirt and shoes

Thank you for helping us promote a restful and healing environment.
